In the summer of 2024, Elder Kwon Tae-San participated in a volunteer mission trip to Erdenet, Mongolia. There, he witnessed the severely deteriorated conditions of many church buildings, which led him to make a life-changing decision to dedicate himself to mission work in Mongolia. Despite his retirement, Elder Kwon chose to use the talents God has given him to restore aging churches and pastoral housing across the country.

Mongolia experiences a vast temperature range due to its extreme continental climate. While summer temperatures can reach up to 40°C in some areas, winter temperatures often drop below -40°C. This harsh climate has caused serious structural damage to many church buildings and pastoral homes. In particular, rural churches struggle with financial difficulties, making it hard to maintain their facilities. During the frigid winters, it can even become impossible for members to hold worship services indoors.

Elder Kwon’s service brings new hope and strength to the Mongolian church. Since arriving in March, he has officially launched his work at the Arkhangai Church, located approximately 430 km from the capital, Ulaanbaatar. From there, he plans to travel throughout Mongolia, repairing and restoring churches and related facilities.

Having committed himself as a self-supporting missionary, Elder Kwon’s work is a powerful testimony of faith and dedication. Continued prayer and support from church members are earnestly requested so that he may carry out this ministry in good health and with unwavering strength. Now is the time for the wider faith community to join in his mission with prayer, encouragement, and practical support.
